Preeti sits on a cot waiting for customers at the edge of a dusty highway in rural India. She's part of a community that has maintained a tradition of sanctioned prostitution for generations. In spite of their profession, Preeti and her friends have relatively happy lives. They're amongst their family and friends, and have freedoms few urban sex workers enjoy.
Some harrowing events make Preeti rethink her life on the highway, causing her to wonder why girls in her community have no other options. But as she seeks out opportunities for change, Preeti encounters strong resistance from her family, the community, and even her own uncertainties.
A fateful decision pushes Preeti to her limits, forcing her to muster every ounce of courage and determination she has. She risks it all to follow her ambitions, for herself and for the future of her village.
Based in part on a true story, Preeti Girl is an inspiring and universal tale of one girl's spirit and resilient determination
to change her life against overwhelming odds.
